Fall is officially here and many of you are involved in your kid’s activities, a favorite sports team, or honey dues. But please remember that there still some wonderful days left for golf and dining.
Last week we lost one of our key employees to Terradyne Golf Club. As we look to replace Ryan I want to thank him for all of his hard work and dedication to the Dodge City Country Club. We have some great candidates to take over the reins from Ryan and continue to maintain the golf course to the high standards of which it was designed. The committee hopes to have a decision made in the next few weeks.
Chef Eric has been real busy in the kitchen preparing for some special events that are coming up quickly. The club will have some Oktoberfest specials on the 3rd and 4th, the famous Seafood Buffet on October 18th, and a Kids Halloween Party on the 31st. As these events approach please remember to make reservations early as they have been very popular and our space is limited.
As always our website is updated weekly with all of the latest events here at the Dodge City Country Club. Thanks again for choosing to be a member of Dodge City Country Club and remember to pass your satisfaction of the club along to your friends and family because Dodge City Country is again the place to be.
Continue to promote the club,

Cole Wasinger
Director of Operations

Dear Members,

I would like to wrap up the season by saying thanks for all your participation and making it a great year of golf. I look forward to the years to come. It would be great to here your ideas or comments for next year. This months news you will see results from Men’s Night, Scotch six some, and the Golf Course Improvement Tournament. During the Golf Course improvement tournament Richard Koenke started his day out with his 5th career hole in one on #17. Congratulations to Richard. Also I would like to remind you that all gift certificates will expire on December 31st. We will be sending out at the end of the month, reminder letters with your gift certificate amount. There will be no exceptions on expired gift certificates. We will have all your fall clothing needs and great items for Christmas gifts. Please do not forget if we don’t have it we can order it. Last of all, come out and enjoy this great fall weather. Just remember it could be a long winter. Have a great October and we’ll see you on the course.

In Ryan’s absence, Cole asked me to pass on some of the latest information concerning the golf course and the hunt for a new Golf Course Superintendent.
We will truly miss Ryan Bourne. He is a very unique and talented GC Superintendent who spent the last three years bringing our golf course back to a level that indeed made it enjoyable to play, and also made us proud to call DC Country Club our home course. He had visions and goals for the course, which unfortunately he didn’t have time to fully complete due to a wonderful opportunity to take the reigns at Terradyne Golf Club in Andover, KS. We appreciate Ryan’s efforts and feel fortunate that we had him for as long as we did. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.
I also want to thank the members and participating hole sponsors for their involvement in making the Golf Course Improvement Tournament a huge success again this year. It was a beautiful day and the course played fantastic. Thanks to Trevor for having everything looking nice and for the greens rolling so good.
Eric’s food was wonderful, and I know Doug and Cole spent quite a bit of time getting players and sponsors contacted. Again, thanks to all for a collaborative effort to make this a big success.

We are currently in the process of interviewing prospective candidates for the position of Golf Course Superintendent. Cole and Doug Moore, in addition to themselves, selected a search / hiring committee consisting of members Jim Abel, Terry Rabe, Jacque Kemmerer, and myself. Upon Ryan’s resignation, he was very cooperative in helping set up some guidelines for necessary things to be done on the course from now going on into winter. Until we hire a new Superintendent, Trevor and Rich are very capable of handling these duties. Ryan also made some suggestions on possible candidates to contact. In addition, we contacted the KS Golf Course Supt. Assoc. as well the Golf Course Supt. Assoc. of America to advertise our available position. We did receive over 25 resumes, have narrowed our selections, and have begun the actual interviewing process.
Initially, I can say that we have some very qualified candidates and have been very impressed in our interviews. Our process should be rapped up in the next week to ten days. Hopefully, in the next newsletter we will have a new GC Superintendent to introduce to the members of Dodge City Country Club. Until then, enjoy a beautiful fall here at the Club.

Golf Committee Co-Chairman

Keys to Balance

Your weight should be balanced on the balls of the feet, not on the heels or toes. With short irons, your weight should be 60-percent on the target side foot (left foot for right-handers). For middle iron shots the weight should be 50/50 or equal on each foot. For your longest clubs, place 60% of your weight on the backside foot (right foot for right-handers). This will help you swing the club on the correct angle on the back swing.

Chef Notes

Hello members,

Well September was a good month; we have finished up the last of the golf tournaments and got the kids back in school.  Now for the most beautiful time of the year, the temperature is falling and soon the leaves will be turning and that means that Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

October is going to be a good month we have seafood buffet coming up on October 18, so please make reservations early and we will post the menu soon.  Just a reminder those members that bought chef tables at the auction the next 2 months would be the perfect time to have them, so please call Chef Eric to set them up and finalize the menu.

By now everyone has heard that Ryan Bourne has left the club to pursue another job we would just like to wish Ryan and his family good luck and thank him for all the hard work he put into the course.

Just a reminder please remember the club when you have special events like birthday’s and anniversary’s to come and have a special dinner.
